Acceptance and eligibility

By accessing or using STATEVIN you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Vehicle History Disclaimer.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase reports. If you use STATEVIN on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Service description

STATEVIN provides (1) free vehicle identification tools (VIN decode and, where supported, US plate lookup) and (2) paid vehicle-history research products (Essential, Complete, Ultimate, and any successor plans).

Vehicle-history information is compiled from third-party and public sources. Reports summarize available records as of generation time. They are not a guarantee of vehicle condition, value, or title status, and are not official government documents unless a cited source expressly states otherwise.

STATEVIN does not claim NMVTIS provider status or NMVTIS certification.

Accounts, guest checkout, and access

You are responsible for safeguarding credentials and for activity under your account. Guest checkout may provide time-limited report access via secure links sent to your email. Do not share private report URLs publicly or with unauthorized parties.

We may suspend or terminate access for suspected fraud, abuse, chargeback misuse, or Terms violations.

License to reports

Purchased reports are licensed for your personal or internal business use in evaluating a specific vehicle. Except as allowed by law, you may not resell, republish, scrape, bulk redistribute, or use report contents to build a competing vehicle-data product.

Payments and pricing

Prices are shown at checkout in the listed currency and may change for future purchases. You authorize the payment method submitted for the amount displayed. Taxes may apply where required.

Refunds and delivery failures are governed by our Refund Policy.

Prohibited use

You may not:

  • Use the service for unlawful surveillance, stalking, or discrimination prohibited by law
  • Scrape, crawl, or automate requests at abusive rates or in violation of technical limits
  • Reverse engineer the service beyond rights allowed by applicable law
  • Interfere with security, authentication, or payment systems
  • Misrepresent your identity or submit VINs/plates you are not authorized to look up where law requires authorization
  • Redistribute purchased reports as a competing commercial data feed

Intellectual property

STATEVIN branding, site design, software, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party data remains subject to provider terms. Free VIN specification data (such as NHTSA vPIC) is provided subject to the source’s terms and availability.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND REPORTS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT HISTORY RECORDS ARE COMPLETE, ERROR-FREE, OR CURRENT.

See the Vehicle History Disclaimer for record-availability limitations.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STATEVIN AND ITS OPERATORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND PROVIDERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR PURCHASE DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON REPORT CONTENTS OR GAPS IN THIRD-PARTY SOURCE DATA.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF ANY ORDER IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO STATEVIN FOR THAT ORDER IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify STATEVIN and its operators against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the service, violation of these Terms, or unlawful use of report contents — except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence apply.

Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required by law.
